Efterklang - Performing Parades (2009)

Ok, so imagine the biggest sound you can imagine. Now make it bigger. Now add more horns. You might be about half-way to what Efterklang is like. When you take a few brilliant danish vocalists, add in a full band, back it all with some ambient electronics, and make it all sound like the most awe-inspiring moment of every adventure movie you've ever seen, you get this album. It's a live album played with the help of the Danish National Chamber Orchestra. This album is honestly so beautiful that I have problems doing other things while listening to it.

Silver Jews - American Water

When I first heard this album, I responded to it along the lines of, "I hate myself for loving this so much." I don't know what it is, exactly, but I can't get enough of it. Why don't these guys actually sing when they play??? Who cares. It's worth a listen. This genre, I suppose, is known as Lo-Fi. The haunting poetic lyrics, simple riffs, droning voices. Mmm. Delicious.

Damien Judaro - Ghost of David

I seem to be in a weird folk kick lately. Damien Judaro fits my tastes perfectly. The simplicity, the sincerity, everything adds up to equal goodness, here. Maybe it's just the mood I'm in, maybe it's just right.
Enjoy.

Rosa - I Mississippi You

Rosa. I found these folks randomly. This thing is perfect. Folk + Punk and just lovely lyrics. ?They helped usher me into this genre, and I think it's a nice place to start.

The High Water Marks are associated with the always wonderful Elephant 6 Collective. (Other distinguished members include Neutral Milk Hotel, of Montreal, and the Apples in Stereo) Also, the female vocalist for this group was the drummer for the apples for years.

Beach House - Devotion

As is the case for half the music on my computer, I have no idea when or how this album came to me. I was shuffling through my media player when I landed on track one of Devotion. By track two, I had decided it was worth throwing up to the masses on Experiment Three.
I suppose the best description for Beach House is that it is Indie / Dream Pop. Or we could leave it at ineffable and just let the music speak for itself.
